Mee Siam Mai Harm
During National Day Rally, PM Lee mentioned bak chor mee vs mee siam mai harm podcast as an analogy. It set me wondering, "When did mee siam got harm (cockles)?"
I've eaten quite a lot of mee siam in my 34 years of existence but I never knew that there was a mee siam with harm version. Did I miss something? A few hawker fare with harm that I know of was Satay Bee Hoon and Char Kway Teow.
Or... did the speech actually meant mee siam mai hiam (no chilli)?
Addendum: It has been reported by The Straits Times on (22 Aug), page H6 Quick News (bottom right corner) that the PM meant to say Laksa instead of Mee Siam.

I think he's been eating ma han chun xi daily and forgot how mee siam taste like. I now understand how the government cannot identify with the commoners.
No lah, I think he just mispronounced.
haha Just a dig at the high and mighty lah. Anyway harm vs ter qua is a better analogy then ter qua vs chilli. Maybe he is referring to char kway teow. Anyway I really wonder what kind of food they eat. He probably have a personal chef to prepare his meals.
erm, i think you are all mistaken.
under a ministry of health directive, under section 492.2.54 (a) article 45fed sub-section 43an6 title 12.53.21.4, it suggests that public officials should make health recommendations to advocate low-cholesterol diets among Singaporeans (net weight up 7.83% over a decade ago: MOH Statistics book 2006).
So the PM's intent was to say take less harmful food.
As a man of the people, he added the Hokkien 'mai' (a colloquial term for 'don't')
Imagine if he had said 'siew mai mai harm'?

Dare I suggest a speech therapist for PM?
He looks in need of one more than Goh Chok Tong.
We don't want him calling Bush "Boss".

To Andrew Wee:
I think that's a bit far-fetched (especially since we now know that he meant to say laksa). Impressive stats but....relac laaaa.
